At Beyond Trauma Mama Inc, we believe no parent should have to navigate trauma, healing, or parenthood alone. Our mission is to create a safe, compassionate space where families can break generational cycles, access trauma-informed support, and step into the peaceful, empowered parenthood they deserve.
Whether you're healing from past trauma, preparing for birth, navigating postpartum, or parenting through difficult seasons — you belong here, and you don’t have to do it on your own.

About Brenda “Bre” Terrell — Founder & Executive Director
I am a trauma-informed Trauma & Parenting support coach, doula, parenting educator, and mom of four. My work is rooted in deep personal experience — years of healing, breaking generational cycles, facing trauma with courage, and rebuilding emotional stability and safety from the inside out.
Beyond Trauma Mama Inc was born from my calling to support other parents through their own journeys. I believe every parent deserves to feel safe, understood, and supported as they heal and raise their children. No matter what your story looks like, you belong here, and there is hope for a new chapter.
I grew up in an environment filled with instability and trauma. From a young age, I learned how to survive situations that no child should ever have to navigate. These early experiences shaped my understanding of fear, resilience, and the desperate need for emotional safety.
As a teenager, I entered situations far too heavy for someone my age.
I believed I was making my own choices, but now, as a mother, I see how vulnerable and unprotected I truly was. I adapted by telling myself I wanted a life that was really being pushed onto me. These years left deep marks — and a deep calling.
Everything changed when I met Matt.
For the first time in my life, I felt truly safe with someone — emotionally, mentally, and physically.
He saw me, believed in me, and helped me experience a level of trust and connection that I never knew was possible.
Moving to Oklahoma became the beginning of my rebuilding — a fresh start, a chance to breathe, and the first chapter of a life built on love instead of survival.
Motherhood brought joy and purpose, but my true healing journey didn’t begin until much later — after my two youngest children faced intense medical complications and emergencies.
Those experiences opened old wounds and created new ones.
The fear, the uncertainty, the hospital days, the trauma around their births and medical conditions — it broke me open in ways I didn’t expect.
Instead of shutting down, it pushed me into my deepest season of healing.
I realized I couldn’t keep surviving my life — I needed to understand my trauma, reconnect with myself, and rebuild from the inside out.
This is where my transformation truly began.
As I worked through my trauma, learned nervous system regulation, grew spiritually, and finally understood how deeply trauma affects parenting, things started clicking.
For more than 20 years in the child development field, parents had been coming to me for guidance, reassurance, and support — long before I had language for trauma, emotional regulation, or healing. I didn’t realize it then, but I was already becoming the person I needed when I was younger.
As my healing deepened, I began to understand that my experiences, education, and natural ability to support families weren’t separate pieces — they were all part of my purpose. Everything I had survived, learned, and worked toward was leading me here:
to help parents heal while they raise their children, so the next generation grows up safer, supported, and emotionally grounded.
Today, I am a Trauma & Parenting Support Coach, a mother of four, a wife, and the Executive Director of a growing nonprofit.
To get here, I had to overcome years of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and the deep spiritual wounds left by abandonment, trafficking, and abuse.
Healing wasn’t a straight path — it was a long, sacred rebuilding of my identity, my faith, my voice, and my sense of worth.
Beyond Trauma Mama was created from that journey.
It’s the safe space I needed at so many different points in my life — a place where parents are welcomed without judgment, understood in their struggles, and supported with compassion.
Our core message is simple and powerful:
Welcome. You belong here.
My mission is to help families heal, grow, and thrive — one parent at a time.
